Most seminar participants will stay at Motel One Berlin-Tiergarten (An der Urania 12/14, 10787 Berlin). The seminar itself takes place in the Hermann von Helmholtz Building at the PTB Berlin-Charlottenburg campus (Abbestraße 1, 10587 Berlin).
The hotel and the seminar venue are only a few kilometres apart. The most convenient connection is by U-Bahn line U2, although walking is also a perfectly good option.

- Walk from the hotel to U Wittenbergplatz (approximately 5 minutes).
- Take the U2 towards Ruhleben.
- Get off after only two stops at U Ernst-Reuter-Platz (the intermediate stop is Zoologischer Garten).
- From Ernst-Reuter-Platz, walk to the PTB Berlin campus and follow the signs to the Hermann von Helmholtz Building.
The U-Bahn ride itself takes only a few minutes. For the complete hotel-to-seminar journey, including walking and waiting for the train, we recommend allowing approximately 20–25 minutes.
For the return journey, take the U2 towards Pankow from Ernst-Reuter-Platz to Wittenbergplatz.

If the weather is nice, walking is also a pleasant option. The distance from Motel One Berlin-Tiergarten to PTB is about 3 km. Depending on your walking speed, please allow approximately 35–40 minutes.
This can also be a convenient option if you would like to see a little of Berlin City West on your way to or from the seminar.
If you already have a Deutschlandticket, you can of course use it on all BVG U-Bahn, S-Bahn, tram and bus services.
For visitors who do not have a Deutschlandticket, the following options are particularly useful:
For travelling mainly between the hotel and PTB:
A short-trip ticket (“Kurzstrecke”) is sufficient. It is valid for up to three stations by U-Bahn or S-Bahn, while the journey from Wittenbergplatz to Ernst-Reuter-Platz is only two stops. The current price is €2.80 for one journey. A 4-short-trip ticket costs €7.80 and is a particularly economical option for repeated journeys during the seminar.
If you plan additional trips around Berlin:
A 24-hour Berlin AB ticket (€11.20) allows unlimited travel for 24 hours and may be more convenient on days when you plan to explore Berlin before or after the seminar.
If you plan extensive sightseeing:
You may also consider one of Berlin's multi-day tourist tickets, such as the Berlin CityTourCard . These include unlimited public transport for the selected period and may be attractive if you intend to travel frequently around Berlin.
Please note that the former regular 7-day VBB ticket is no longer available; it was discontinued in January 2026.
We would also not recommend buying a Deutschlandticket solely for the seminar, since it is a monthly subscription product rather than a simple visitor ticket.
For international visitors, the easiest solution is usually the BVG Fahrinfo app . It combines route planning, real-time travel information and ticket purchase in one app.
Tickets can also be purchased from BVG and S-Bahn ticket machines at stations and from BVG sales points. Before travelling, please make sure that your ticket is valid: paper tickets that require validation must be stamped before use, while digital tickets are activated in the app.

Both the hotel and PTB are within the Berlin city fare area. For normal travel within Berlin, a Berlin AB ticket is sufficient.
Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), however, is in fare zone C. If you travel between BER Airport and central Berlin, you therefore need a ticket covering Berlin ABC. A single Berlin ABC ticket currently costs €5.00.
Because connections from BER can vary depending on your arrival time, we recommend checking the BVG journey planner shortly before travelling.
